The Intellectual Property Office of the Republic of Serbia has issued a conclusion on the “Apothecary LAB” trademark

The Intellectual Property Office of the Republic of Serbia has approved the trademark “Apothecary LAB life more beautiful,” which was submitted last year by Apothecary. The trademark was developed in collaboration with the marketing agency Foster + Svensson and its specialized unit Foster + Svensson MED.

The trademark’s recognition and registration grant Apothecary exclusive rights to the trademark and provide 10 years of intellectual property protection. After completing the necessary formal and administrative procedures, the Institute will issue a trademark certificate to Apothecary and publish the trademark in the “Intellectual Property Gazette.”

After six years of research and development, Apothecary LAB will launch an innovative brand featuring dermocosmetic products derived from natural ingredients. These products are designed to promote the regeneration of healthy skin cells. The special scientific line of high-quality premium cosmetic products for skincare, created by pharmacists, showcases a unique private recipe of products incorporating natural ingredients.

– The construction of Apothecary LAB products commenced in 2020. Over the course of six years, extensive research and development were undertaken to establish the brand, develop its name, and create its line of skincare products. Foster + Svensson marketing agency played a pivotal role in crafting a creative solution for this endeavor. Notably, Apothecary LAB was launched simultaneously with the establishment of Apothecary luxury drugstore. However, product and brand development were executed concurrently and over an extended period, reflecting Apothecary’s commitment to maintaining exceptionally high standards in its work. The construction of Apothecary LAB products has been underway since 2020, where over 6 years were spent researching and building the brand itself, the name and the line of skincare products, with the support of the Foster + Svensson marketing agency, and its specialized healthcare unit Foster + Svensson MED which worked together on a creative solution. Apothecary LAB was created at the same time when Apothecary luxury drugstore was created, but product and brand development was done in parallel and over a long period of time, because Apothecary sets extremely high standards in its work, says Mag. In March 2025, Apothecary submitted an application to the Intellectual Property Office of the Republic of Serbia to protect its trademark. The application sought legal protection for its name, graphic sign (logo), and the name “Apothecary LAB life more beautiful.” This protection ensures that only products marked with the trademark and name “Apothecary LAB” are legally available on the market. Apothecary’s application was based on the Law on Trademarks of the Republic of Serbia (“Official Gazette of the RS”, no. 104/2009 and 10/2013) and the Decree on the contents of the register of applications and the register of trademarks, as well as data published in the official gazette of the competent body (“Official Gazette of the RS”, no. 43/2010 of 25 June 2010).

After the Intellectual Property Office of the Republic of Serbia conducted an Examination and requested the Apothecary to provide a Statement regarding the Examination, the Apothecary luxury drugstore submitted an expert Statement report in July 2025. This expert Statement report justified the use of the name “Apothecary LAB life more beautiful.” Foster + Svensson and Foster + Svensson MED are proud to have contributed its professional expertise to the acceptance of the trademark registration application, which was publicly published in the “Intellectual Property Gazette” at the end of August 2025. The expert explanation provided in the Statement report helped the Intellectual Property Office of the Republic of Serbia accept the “Apothecary LAB life more beautiful” trademark and publish it in the official Gazette.

Apothecary LAB products are inspired by regenerative medicine based on bio-science

Apothecary holds the right of ownership over the trademark “Apothecary LAB life more beautiful,” registered under number “Ž 2025/0516.” The trademark is classified in the Vienna classification “27.5.1; 27.5.10; 27.5.17; 29.1.6” and falls under Nice classes 3 and 5. The trademark’s color is gray, with RGB values of 153, 153, and 153. The application was submitted to the Intellectual Property Office of the Republic of Serbia on March 26, 2025, and was published in the “Intellectual Property Gazette of the Republic of Serbia” on August 29, 2025, under number 8/2025 (ISSN 2217 – 9143).

The brand’s development is an ongoing process that encompasses the creation of its name, trademark, color, and slogan, as well as the product packaging and product names, which are crucial steps in further intellectual property registration and protection.

The expert Statement report, prepared for the Protection of Intellectual Property Office of the Republic of Serbia, presents a detailed examination of the conditions for trademark recognition, encompassing both legal and professional elements. We design brands, use digital technology, data, and strategy to create contemporary visual identities, services, and experiences to our corporate clients. Here at Foster + Svensson we believe that communication and advertising messages must be made of intelligence, creativity and being bold. All that, design, and tech centered. We want to disrupt the market. To create projects that will have an impact on people’s life. Either to attract people attention, create desire for product or service purchase, or to trigger emotion.

This can be enabled if we create solutions which are born out of intelligence, where every single detail is measured, calculated, and have its own logical purpose. We pack all in visually attractive and appealing design, which needs to be functional, creative enough, yet to differ from the market, competitors, and expectations overall. Every media channel has its own way of use, with different target group behavior, way of use. So, we are adjusting our creatives.

We designed a new logo, a new identity for ourselves. Shape-shifting 3D logo. Our primary logo is a combination of two elements. Brand device and our Wordmark. A colored motion and 3D animated abstract bubble is symbolizing ideas, conversation, processes, thinking and creativity which wants to be unleashed from the bubble itself, representing no strains. This bubble is also our new brand device which symbolizes variety of our services. Gradient colors of bubble are displaying diversity of clients and their respective brands. Colors spans from pink to red and orange, with highlights in magenta, creating beautiful gradient. Our work is coming out of this bubble, a place where brands, identities, products, services, marketing, design and campaigns are born. Our color palette evolved from a monotonous grey to a diversified range of orange, pink and reds that encompass the logo tones. These colors are very carefully selected to accent infusing digital environment in communication of 21st century, to demonstrate versatility and vitality, yet to play visually with human eye. All these elements are formed as a lock-up logo.

Foster + Svensson new shape-shifting logo is embracing dimensionality, creativity, design, thinking which wants to be released and go out of the box. To explode, to be pushed publicly and become visibly. Just like the work we do. The very uniqueness of new Foster + Svensson shape-shifting logo is in its dimensional and geometry aspect. New 3D logo is embracing freedom, celebrates space and proving that physicality can be demonstrated in variety of dimensions, different perspectives, just like how people are perceiving the look of companies, brands, products, and services. Our fluid logo that can take an infinite number of shapes.

It enhance visual language with its dynamic usage, as a new digital age which already emerged, but also stating that there are variety of dimensions, and that geometry can be displayed in static way, either by pausing the shape-shifting logo, or having its positive, negative and outline versions. It embraces dynamic identities to reflect the ever-changing nature of a brand, its audiences, or both. Evolution of the brand and logo itself is something that our agency is doing. Always creating new, or redesigning existing, to explore new shapes, materials, motion qualities and three-dimensional space.

Besides having animated gradient shape-shifting logo, we also designed outline version as our secondary logo, where we used thin, fine lines to display bubble and its motion in a static way, by having several interlaced bubble lines. These fine lines are also used as brand device, where they are oversized and intentionally cropped. Right next to Brand device, we placed our Wordmark, all written with uppercase grey letters, as a complete overhaul offering creative liberty within the design system. Transformation of new Foster + Svensson logo and identity lies on our cornerstone, which enabled us greater responsiveness to the brand’s evolving needs.

Suvodolac are one of the oldest and rarest families in Serbia, dated back in 11th century between 1004-1008 during Byzantine Empire, when Suvodol monastery was built and later rebuilt by Prince Lazar of Serbia as Nemanjić dynasty foundation in 14th century. Complete reconstruction was done during 1866 by Mihailo Obrenović, Prince of Serbia. Suvodol monastery is marked as a cultural monument of great importance under Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments of Serbia.

World Brand Design Society features brand identity for Apothecary

London – With few days upon public unveil of the Apothecary brand and its corporate design, an internationally focused community highlighting exceptional consumer and corporate brand design The World Brand Design Society (WBDS), featured Apothecary brand identity.

– We are very happy to see that international marketing strand and creative industry instantly recognized our work for Apothecary online drogerie. It was made out of numerous research and insights how and what customers expect from online drugstore, how they behave during online purchase and what are the expectations.

“There is no room for compromise anymore, as customers seek for unique and sleek nice looking, functional and useful e-commerce websites, able to display and sell products in a click or two. As customers are paying for the products, they expect from drugstores and product manufactures to respect them and pay attention to details, information, design and how products are displayed, how products are presented to them”, says Vladimir Suvodolac, Managing Director of Foster + Svensson which created and designed Apothecary brand with his team.

During insights it was found that one of the main issues within drugstores is communication towards customers. Being noisy, untidy and incomplete for online product presentation. On a level where still relying on old-school print presentation and converting same content on digital, without proper use of assets, having poor content, not using digital features, brand guidelines or graphical standards at all. There is no consistency between different products and such, they are not offered well to the customers.

– We have to understand that internal or raw data cannot be used in external communication, specially towards customers. Simply, they will not understand it, and therefore we should avoid using irrelevant or confusing content for customers such as product internal codes, product short names, another set of product codes or not having product description. All that we avoided with Apothecary case and managed to have multibrand online store where all products co-exist in their own branding, while not overtaking Apothecary brand and purity, says Vladimir.

Recognition by World Brand Design Society

Main goal for Apothecary is to position high quality design of e-commerce website within its core, to make it clean and pure, informative, click or two away, yet allowing product brands to be seen, reached and recognized. Having online store which will be visibly rigorous within own brand, being subtly disciplined with communication among other brands, and aligning with brand guidelines was set as a must for all product manufactures and drugstore overall. Besides, product information to be comprehensive and relevant to customers, just like product search bar which needs to be intelligent and find product in short time. That is how Apothecary is set to operate.

The World Brand Design Society (WBDS) is an internationally focused community, founded in 2008 with the mission of highlighting exceptional consumer (packaging) and corporate brand design while bringing knowledge and community closer together.
