Apothecary customers can expect enhanced security for transactions and purchases. Online payments with Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, and DinaCard remain available, while American Express credit cards are no longer accepted. Additionally, the digital transformation initiative introduces the option to pay using Apple Pay and Google Pay.

Apothecary will gradually transition its operations to Raiffeisen Bank in Serbia. The previous e-commerce solution and the current account at Banca Intesa will progressively be phased out until the final termination, which is scheduled for the first quarter of 2026 at the latest. This change will also eliminate the option of online payments using American Express credit cards.

Based in Austria, the bank utilizes modern banking and technological solutions at the group level and adapts them for its network in Central and Eastern Europe. As a member of the RBI Group, an established and award-winning banking group, Raiffeisen Bank is the third largest bank in Serbia, based on total net balance sheet assets (as reported to the NBS in Q3-2025).

Apothecary has embraced the future with unprecedented speed and an advanced 5G network

This isn’t just about launching a new e-commerce platform, supporting digital wallets, and enhancing security. Apothecary is also investing in the technologies it uses daily. Their ICT infrastructure has been upgraded to include access to cutting-edge 5G network. This means faster site loading time and the ability to present products in the highest quality and most interactive way. By leveraging the 5G network and connecting various ICT systems, Apothecary can respond quickly to user requests and maintain its daily operations efficiently.

The 5G network also reduces response time (latency) and provides a more stable and faster view of the entire website. This is particularly beneficial for Apothecary, which is the first drugstore to use rich video banners and content on its site, setting it apart from other pharmacy, perfumery, and drugstore websites. Telecommunication companies play a crucial role in the industry, and by partnering with them, Apothecary digital ecosystem is thriving. This collaboration is leading to improved user experience, innovation, and the establishment of new business standards in the market. Apothecary is rejecting the conservative approach and established habits in marketing, sales, and communications, instead embracing a more relevant, rational, and modern approach.

The advanced 5G network in business drives efficiency and innovation by providing ultra-fast speeds, low latency, and massive connectivity. This enables advanced IoT, stronger encryption, device tethering, AI artificial intelligence, improved user experiences, faster online payment processing, better cloud experiences, and enhanced remote work capabilities. The 5G network also offers the potential for further business transformation in the online sales sector by facilitating real-time data, automation, and seamless mobile operation, thereby future-proofing companies for continued digital growth.

Foster + Svensson and Thornet are delighted to support the technological and operational upgrades of Apothecary core system, its integration with the Raiffeisen Bank RaiAccept online payment gateway, and the 5G connectivity of the IoT and intranet network for Apothecary.
